RULE VARIATIONS

Four Player Partners Game

Partners sit across from each other.
You cannot demand cards from your partner.  Demand cards from opponents only.
If you ask an opponent for a certain card, and your partner has one or more of that same card, he may give you those cards at his option.  If he gives you his cards he must give you all of them; however: he does not have to give any of them to you.  If he does not give you the cards, he cannot tell you that he has them.
All books played by a team are scored together.  If either player on a team goes out, the hand is complete and no other books may be played (this includes unplayed books held by the partner of the player who was able to go out).
No information can pass between partners.  No talking, no nodding, no shaking the head "no," no hand signals, no winks, no nudges, no smirks, etc.  You and your partner cannot communicate.

The Eyeball Watching for Cheaters

GOFO, like traditional Go Fish, is based on an honor system.  Cheating obviously ruins the game and renders it pointless to play.  When you've got four Weed and Maynard demands you give up your Weed, if you don't have a Finger, you gotta give Maynard the Weed.  ALL of the Weed.  Unfortunately, some people live their lives on the basis of an alternate set of values.  If you suspect someone is cheating, or if you simply perfer to play with a more strict set of rules, you can add to the Eyeball's functionality as follows.

Play The Eyeball at any time during play.  When played, all activity stops while you are allowed to look at the entire hand of any player.  BUT NOTE: he is allowed to look at your entire hand also.  After these examinations are complete, play resumes.  Anyone caught cheating is, of course, disqualified, and no one will ever play GOFO with them again.  Or any other game for that matter.

Show Me the Money

You can also thwart cheating by making it your house rule that anytime a player demands a type of card, he must show that card (to prove that he actually has it in his hand).
