RULES Q&A

I don’t want to demand cards on a turn. Can I just draw?

Yes. Of course, your turn ends once you draw. You can also enhance your draw with The Eyeball or The Unicorn. If you use The Eyeball, your turn ends when you put the three cards you choose not to keep back to the top of the draw pile.

Isn’t it easy to cheat in this game?

Like traditional Go Fish, GOFO is based on the honor system. But sometimes, you encounter people who live life based on a different set of principles. Refer to the section titled "Rules Variations" if this becomes a problem for you.

Can I play The Sledgehammer during a Finger Fight?

Yes. The Hammer can be played at any time. When the demanding player’s turn ends, it will be your turn.

Can I demand special function cards from a player?

No.

The card I drew completes a book. Can I play the book?

No, because your turn ends when you draw, except when you you play The Eyeball, in which case you can play a book with the drawn card if you play it before you put back the three cards you do not want.

Can I use The Sledgehammer to refuse to surrender cards?

No; however, if you are out of Finger cards, you demand cards from an opponent, and he plays a Finger, you can play The Sledgehammer and demand again on your extra turn. Maybe he won’t have another Finger. If he does, you wasted a Hammer.

Let’s say I have a Sledgehammer, an Eyeball and a Unicorn. What if I play The Eyeball, look at the four cards, and want all of them? After I see the four cards, can I play The Hammer, put the three cards back, then play The Unicorn on my extra Sledgehammer turn to get the three cards I put back?

Yes! You can even demand more cards before playing The Unicorn, since your Sledgehammer turn is like any other turn.
So, that means I could play The Eyeball and The Unicorn on the same draw, right?

Not exactly. In the prior example, The Sledgehammer was used with The Eyeball. The Hammer created a second turn, and on that second turn, The Unicorn was played.

My opponent demanded my last set cards, so I’m out of set cards.  Do I get the bonus for going out?

No, you only get the 20 point bonus for going out if you play all of your set cards as books on your own turn.
